A child's ghost is believed to haunt this plantation. It comes from the cemetery and visits the home, making sudden noises and rushing past people. He is also known to change the pages on the calendar and was believed to have started a fire that burned the mansion down in 1980.

  • I lived at St. Maurice Plantation when I was a lil girl.

My father, Robert Smith, was a local architect. He became part owner and began a restoration project in the early 70's and in 1975 when I was five years old my family moved into this very old, magnificent three story plantation home. The land was so beautiful with Red River connected to our front yard. My brother and I spent most of our days outside exploring. I'll never forget the smell of the air and the beauty and peaceful feeling on those warn sunny days!! I'd give anything to be able to go back and revisit the time I spent living there.
