A Needle Found in a Candy Bar by a Local Pearl River Parent This Halloween.

The Pearl River Police Department has issued an urgent public safety alert for parents in the Pearl River area, urging them to double and triple check their children's Halloween candy after a citizen in the Oak Street area reported finding a needle embedded in her child's candy bar.

In the photos posted to the Pearl River Police Department's Facebook Page (pictured above & below), the needle appears to be a sewing pin, typically used to pin clothing in place while sewing it. The needle appears to have been almost fully embedded in the chocolate bar, based on the numerous photos shared by the Pearl River PD.

Authorities are urging parents in Pearl River to recheck their children's Halloween candy, stating that they do not take these incidents lightly - in their statement, Pearl River Police Department said that this incident is "very serious", and that the department will be investigating this "horrific act".
